Vena Energy-affiliated Yamanami Furyoku LLC launched the environmental impact assessment process for the up to 162.5MW Yamanami onshore wind project in Aomori Prefecture.

According to a primary environmental impact consideration made available for public viewing on July 31, 2026, the company aims to install 25 turbines, 6.5MW to 8MW each, across a 2,150ha site. All of the units are expected to be located in Nakadomari Town. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2031, with commercial operation following in November 2033.

Operational wind farms in the vicinity include the developer’s own 36MW Nakasato, which was commissioned April 2022, and Green Power Investment-affiliated 121.6MW Wind Farm Tsugaru.

Multiple onshore projects in the area are also undergoing environmental impact assessment, including Cosmo Eco Power’s up to 150MW Goshogawara Shiura-Nakadomari Wind Farm, which launched the process in February 2026, and HSE’s up to 68.16MW Shiura II, which reached the methodology stage in May 2026.

Vena Energy Group currently operates three onshore wind power plants in Japan. In addition to Nakasato, it commissioned the 7.5MW Reihoku in Kumamoto Prefecture in June 2021 and the 7.5MW Nakaura in Nagasaki Prefecture in May 2025. The group also launched the assessment for the up to 138.6MW Iwaki-Yuwa wind farm and completed the process for the 30MW Kagoshima Koriyama and a 50MW project in Shimane Prefecture.
