Renewable Energy Partners began commercial operation of the 1.8MW/8.36MWh Kakegawa Obuchi Power Storage Station in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on September 30, 2026, the company’s Chief Strategy Officer Victoria Leow told Japan Energy Hub in an email.
According to Leow, the facility located in the Chubu TSO area is aggregated by Eneres. Renewable Energy Partners developed the project and handled engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). The company will also be in charge of operations and maintenance (O&M) and asset management. Its unit Enemamo supplied the energy management system (EMS).
A photo provided by the company suggests the asset uses HiTHIUM battery systems.
Kakegawa Obuchi is the developer’s second grid-scale battery storage project to come online. The company’s website shows it previously developed a 2MW/8MWh asset in Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, which was connected to the grid in December 2024 and has since been sold.
Leow said Renewable Energy Partners expects to connect the 1.95MW/8.38MWh Chino No. 1 Kyodo Power Storage Station in Chino City, Nagano Prefecture, at the end of October 2026, and the 1.95MW/8.32MWh Okaya Kyodo Power Storage Station in Okaya City, Nagano Prefecture, around January 2027.
The company has been developing solar power plants since 2015 and has about 150MW under management. In addition to high-voltage grid-scale battery storage, it is developing extra high-voltage assets, including a 47.7MW/210MWh project scheduled to be connected to the grid in Ehime Prefecture in December 2028.
