Vena Energy-affiliated Sannohe Furyoku LLC submitted the draft environmental impact assessment for its 65MW Sannohe onshore wind project in Sannohe Town and Shingo Village, Aomori Prefecture, to METI and other stakeholders on October 29, 2026.
According to the document, the company plans to install 10 turbines, 6.5MW each, across an approximately 625ha site. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2029, with commercial operation following in May 2032.
The developer’s wind-focused unit Japan Wind Energy launched the process in September 2021, planning an up to 64.5MW plant at the time. It briefly upsized the planned wind farm to up to 67.2MW when filing methodology in March 2024 and transferred the project to the special purpose company (SPC) in September 2026.
Operational wind farms in the vicinity include the 7.65MW Eurus Tashirotai Wind Farm, which was commissioned in November 2002, and SGET Shingo Wind Farm LLC’s 18MW Shingomura Wind Power Plant, which was brought online in November 2019. Additionally, Green Power Inaniwa Takko LLC is building an up to 94.5MW power plant.
Several other projects, including Tohoku Electric Power’s up to 86MW Takko Oguni, Towada Furyoku Kaihatsu’s up to 130.2MW Sobe Okuse, and Kazuno Green Energy’s up to 107.5MW Kazuno Tobu Shimin Wind Farm, are undergoing the environmental impact assessment process nearby.
Vena Energy operates three onshore wind power plants in Japan with a combined capacity of over 50MW, and is developing multiple others, such as the up to 162.5MW Yamanami in Aomori Prefecture and the up to 46.2MW Akita Oga in Akita Prefecture.
