AT TOKYO secures 3.8GWh/year through off-site PPA with Advance Maintenance and TEPCO Energy Partner

AT TOKYO signed a 3.6 MW (DC)/2.4 MW (AC) off-site PPA with TEPCO Energy Partner (TEPCO EP) and Advance Maintenance on June 27, 2024s, the data center operator announced on July 18, 2024. Through the PPA, the company expects to procure approximately 3.79 GWh per year.

Power from three solar power plants owned and operated by Advance Maintenance will be supplied to AT TOKYO’s Data Center No. 3 in with TEPCO EP sleeving the PPA. The deal is expected to account for approximately 10% of the data center’s consumption.

The three power plants are expected to commission in July and December 2024. Two of them will be in Tochigi Prefecture while one will be in Ibaraki Prefecture:

  • Tochigi I: 1.830 MW (DC)/1.150MW (AC)
  • Tochigi II: 1.153 MW (DC)/0.700MW (AC)
  • Ibaraki: 0.651 MW (DC)/0.550 MW (AC)

This PPA, which has now been added to the Japan Energy Hub CPPA database, is AT TOKYO’s first. Separately from the PPA, AT TOKYO will also procure renewable energy certificates from TEPCO EP.

AT TOKYO is a data center operator established in 2000. Its main shareholders include the security services provider Secom and TEPCO EP’s sister company TEPCO Power Grid. The company’s Data Center No. 3 started operations in 2008.
