Chubu EPCO’s wholly-owned subsidiary CR-01 LLC commissioned Yokkaichi Mizusawa No. 1 Agri Solar Power Plant on September 1, 2024, the utility announced earlier this week. The power plant is the first of seven agrisolar power plants Chubu EPCO is developing in Mie Prefecture based on an agreement it signed with JA Mie Shinren, a financial institution that is part of the JA (Japan Agricultural Co-operative) group.

The approximately 640MWh expected to be generated at the 526.32kWDC/399kWAC power plant in Yokkaichi City will be sold to Chubu EPCO’s retail arm, Chubu Electric Power Miraiz, through a PPA.

CR-01 will build four more agrisolar power plants in Yokkaichi City, one in Tsu City, and one in Suzuka City as part of the partnership with JA Mie Shinren. The seven power plants including the recently commissioned one will have a combined output of 2.14MWAC. Nagoya-based Eco Smile is in charge of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of all of the power plants.

Combined, the agrisolar power plants will have 3.3ha of farmland, which will be used for growing sakaki trees.
