ENEOS Renewable Energy and the Hokkaido-based renewable developer and services company H.E Energy partnered to develop 50 low-voltage power plants totaling 5MW in the Tohoku TSO area, the former announced on December 5, 2024.
The power plants will be commissioned gradually as they are completed with the entire portfolio expected to be become operational by the end of 2025.
According to the statement, H.E Energy will develop and construct the power plants and sell the completed assets to ENEOS Renewable Energy. After the sale, H.E Energy will continue to be in charge of the power plants’ operation and maintenance (O&M).
“This project is a collaboration between H.E Energy, which has a track record of constructing over 600 low-voltage solar power plants, including through bulk schemes, in the snowy Hokkaido and Tohoku areas, and the ENEOS Renewable Energy Group, which, in addition to power plant development, also has strengths in utilizing storage batteries and selling power through corporate PPAs,” said ENEOS Renewable Energy’s statement.
ENEOS Renewable Energy has been involved in the operation or construction of over 100 solar, wind, and biomass power plants in Japan. The Japan Energy Hub PPA database shows that it has signed multiple PPAs including with Amazon and Tokyo Metro.
Earlier this year, the company formed a similar but larger-scale partnership with WAKO and ALL Asset Partners to develop 88 high-voltage solar power plants totaling 49MW in the Chugoku and Shikoku TSO areas.
