This month, ENEOS Renewable Energy (ENEOS RE) started supplying power to The Japan Wool Textile (Nikke) through a 1.5MW solar offsite PPA, the companies announced on July 18, 2024. Kansai Electric Power (KEPCO) serves as the retailer sleeving the deal.
The 1.5MW consists of multiple low-voltage solar power plants in the Kansai TSO area, which ENEOS RE developed jointly with Takahashi Co., Ltd., a Kyoto-based company specializing in low-voltage solar projects in the region.
Nikke uses the generated power, which is expected to lead to approximately 1,400 ton reduction in CO2 emissions per year, at seven of its facilities.
The Japan Energy Hub CPPA module shows that this deal is the first time for Nikke to disclose procuring renewable power through a corporate PPA. The module also shows that ENEOS RE disclosed multiple PPAs in the past including a 9.5MW deal with Amazon. Similarly, KEPCO disclosed multiple PPA deals in which it serves either as a generator or a retailer.
