In August 2024, one company joined the Electric Power Reserve Exchange (EPRX), which runs Japan’s balancing market. No members left the exchange. As such, as of the end of August 2024, EPRX had 74 members. The number of companies joining the exchanges was lower than in July, when four companies were added.

The single new addition to the exchange was Hugemori Corporation, which joined on August 8. In addition to being a solar power plant-related equipment manufacturer, importer, and distributor, the company is also involved in the development, construction, and O&M of solar power plants. Along with joining EPRX, the company also registered as an aggregator with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

EPRX was established on April 1, 2024, to take over the operation of Japan’s balancing market, which was partially launched in April 2021, from a cooperative of Japan’s nine mainland TSOs.
