Eurus Energy Holdings’ group company Eurus Sandaimyojin Wind LLC commissioned the 34MW Eurus Sandaimyojin Wind Farm in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, on August 29, 2024, the company announced.

The power plant consists of nine 4.2MW Vestas wind turbines installed along the ridge of 600 to 800 meter high mountians including Sandaimyojin. Construction on the power plant started in September 2021 with Kajima Corporation being in charge of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).

Tohoku Electric Power Network will offtake all of the power generated under the feed-in-tariff scheme. Eurus Sandaimyojin Wind will be paid 22 yen/kWh for 20 years.

Eurus Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho, is the largest wind power plant developer in Japan. Eurus Sandaimyojin Wind Farm is its third wind project to commission in Fukushima Prefecture, following the 46MW Eurus Takine Ojiroi Wind Farm commissioned in December 2010 and 18.83MW Eurus Tabito Wind Farm commissioned in November 2023.

Correction (September 6, 2024): An earlier version of this story described Eurus Energy as a 60:40 joint venture between Toyota Tsusho and TEPCO. The company is now wholly owned by Toyota Tsusho, which acquired TEPCO’s 40% stake in August 2022.
