Multiple solar power plants and a wind power plant are already connected to Fukushima Souden’s private grid.

Fukushima Souden completed the construction of an 82.02km private grid in Fukushima Prefecture on July 31, 2024, the company announced on August 2, 2024.

Development work on the private grid, which delivers power from solar and wind assets in the prefecture to the main grid operated by TEPCO Power Grid, started in late 2017. Different segments of the mostly underground 66kV/154kV grid were completed between January 6, 2020, and the end of July 2024.

So far, 241.26MW of renewable assets were connected to the private grid and started commercial operations. That includes 11 solar power plants totaling 234.28MW and the 6.99MW Kawauchi Wind Power Plant in Kawauchi Village, which was connected to the grid on August 9, 2023, and started commercial operations on February 2, 2024.

Eleven more wind power plants totaling 382.51MW will come online between this fiscal year and FY2027.
