Fuyo General Lease partnered with RS Asset Advisors to develop a 1.96MW/8.34MWh grid-scale battery storage facility in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture, the two companies said on March 14, 2025. The project in the Kyushu TSO area is their first BESS-related collaboration.
According to the statement, the companies are targeting May 2026 COD for the asset, which will be owned by Fuyo General Lease.
RS Asset Advisors has been in charge of development, including site selection and acquisition, grid connection processing, business plan preparation. It will also handle operation and management after commissioning. Fuyo General Lease will select equipment manufacturer and aggregator and be responsible for the commercial operation of the facility.
Both of the companies have been extensively involved in battery storage prior to this announcement.
The Usuki City facility is Fuyo General Lease’s second unsubsidized BESS project following the 1.96MW/7.83MWh Chikushino Tenzan Power Storage Station in Fukuoka Prefecture, which is set to commission in July 2025. The company was also awarded METI’s FY2024 subsidy for a project in Miyazaki Prefecture being developed jointly with Banpu and Global Engineering and invested in a battery storage-focused fund established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
RS Asset Advisors previously partnered with Mitsubishi HC Capital Energy and Maeda Corporation in a similar way.
