Kansai Electric Power joined GF Corporation’s Kamimaki-Yamade onshore wind project in Ehime Prefecture, the Ministry of the Environment’s data suggests.

The ministry’s environmental impact assessment database shows that on April 10, 2026, the utility and GF’s affiliate Mirai Wind were added to the list of the project’s developers alongside its original developer. The details of Kansai Electric Power’s participation have not been disclosed.

As a Class 2 onshore wind power plant with a capacity between 37.5MW and 50MW, Kamimaki-Yamade was exempt from the environmental impact assessment’s primary consideration stage. GF submitted the methodology for the project, which is planned on a 196ha site on the border of Uwajima City and Ainan Town, in November 2025.

According to the document, the project is expected to consist of 11 turbines, 4.2MW each, with their combined output capped at 43MW due to grid connection size. Groundbreaking is targeted for March 2032, with commercial operation set to follow in July 2035.

The project is situated between J-Wind’s 40.8MW Minami Ehime No. 2 Wind Power Plant scheduled to be commissioned in FY2027 and the 25MW Masakawa-Masaki Wind Farm brought online by a GF and JR-EAST Energy Development joint venture in March 2026. J-Wind’s 28.5MW Minami Ehime Wind Power Plant and Shikoku Electric Power’s 16MW Sozu Wind System are also nearby.

Kansai Electric Power and its affiliates own several operational onshore wind projects, including the 12MW Awaji Wind Power Plant commissioned in 2012, the 6MW Tahara No. 4 Wind Power Plant brought online in 2014, and the 26MW Oita-Usuki Wind Farm in Kyushu that is currently under construction.
