On September 30, 2024, Mitsui Fudosan and Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate completed the construction of LOGIFRONT Tokyo Itabashi, a new logistics facility with a 4MW rooftop solar power plant, the companies announced earlier this month.

The project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) was done by Nippon Steel Engineering. Construction work on the net zero emission building started in January 2023. According to Mega Solar Business, the rooftop power plant, which is expected to generate approximately 5.24GWh per year, uses Jinko Solar panels and Huawei power conditioners.

Excess power not used at the facility will be sold to public facilities including schools in Itabashi City through an off-site PPA.

A similar scheme is in place at two other LOGIFRONT facilities, in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, and Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, where rooftop solar power plants with a combined 3.5MW capacity were built and are used to power the facilities through an on-site PPA, with excess power being supplied to four other properties owned by Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate through an off-site PPA.
