Mitsui Fudosan and TEPCO Energy Partner (TEPCO EP) announced that the two companies signed a PPA expected to supply 200GWh/year by FY2030 and that the contract’s first two power plants were commissioned on October 1, 2024.
As part of the PPA, Mitsui Fudosan develops and operates solar power plants in the Tokyo TSO area. The generated power is then delivered by TEPCO EP, which is in charge of supply and demand balancing, to office buildings and other commercial real estate operated by Mitsui Fudosan. The PPA is part of Mitsui Fudosan’s broader effort to grow its solar generation to 380GWh/year by FY2030.
The first two power plants, which were commissioned at the beginning of this month, are located in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and are used to supply power to the common areas of Tokyo Midtown and Tokyo Midtown Hibiya.
The larger of the two, Tanimukai Solar Power Plant, is rated at 2.356MW and is expected to generate 2.79GWh per year. The smaller Goishizawa Solar Power Plant is rated at 1.25MW and expected to generate 1.57GWh per year.
Mitsui Fudosan and TEPCO EP first partnered in 2020 when they signed an agreement to establish a scheme to provide a stable supply of green power to the former’s tenants.
The PPA has now been added to the Japan Energy Hub PPA database.
