ML Power acquires 16 solar power plants totaling 25.7MW, tasks Blue Sky with asset management

Blue Sky Asset Management manages over 600MW of solar.

Mizuho Lease’s wholly-owned subsidiary ML Power acquired 16 high-voltage solar power plants totaling 25.7MW and tasked Blue Sky Asset Management with asset management, the latter announced on January 16, 2025.

According to the statement, the 16 power plants are spread across eight prefectures spanning from Hokkaido to Gifu. Further details about the assets were not provided.

Blue Sky Asset Management is in charge of asset management for 243 solar power plants totaling 636MW. The power plants include those owned by its group company Blue Sky Solar which, among other activities, develops solar assets in partnership with Osaka Gas. In June 2024, it acquired RJ Investment, an infrastructure fund manager with approximately 37 billion yen under management, from Renewable Japan.

ML Power has been involved in both renewable generation and BESS projects. Recently, it partnered with Sun Village to develop a 2MW/8MWh storage facility in Fukui Prefecture.
