On November 1, 2024, Tohoku EPCO started supplying power from 30 low-voltage solar power plants owned by Sunlight Tohoku, a joint venture between Osaki Creation and Sun Village, to Skylark Holdings through a 20-year off-site PPA, the companies announced.

According to the statement, at 49.5kW each, the 30 power plants total just under 1.5MW. They are all located in the Tohoku TSO area, in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures. The 3GWh per year that the PPA is expected to supply will be used at 84 Gusto, Bamiyan, and other Skylark Group restaraurants across the Tohoku area.

While this is Skylark’s first off-site PPA in Tohoku, the Japan Energy Hub PPA database shows that the company introduced multiple PPAs in other areas earlier this year including an on-site PPA at its Shisui Merchandising Center in the Tokyo TSO area and off-site PPAs in the Chubu and Hokuriku areas.

Skylark Holdings operates over 2,600 stores throughout Japan.
