Sotetsu Clean Energy acquired 25 operational solar power plants totaling about 40MWDC in December 2025, the company announced on January 26, 2026.
According to the company, 10 of the projects totaling 19MWDC are in the Tokyo TSO area, four totaling 8MWDC in Kansai, five totaling 5MWDC in Chugoku, and three totaling 4MWDC in Tohoku. The portfolio also includes one asset each in Hokkaido (3MWDC), Chubu (2MWDC), and Kyushu (1MWDC).
All of the projects are operated under the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme. One of the assets in Kansai is extra high-voltage (2MWAC or above), with the remaining 24 being high-voltage (50kWAC or above but under 2MWAC). Sotetsu Clean Energy did not disclose the seller.
The company said the acquisition brings its overall portfolio to about 60MW. With that, its output is expected to reach the equivalent of approximately 25% of Sotetsu Group’s power consumption.
Sotetsu Holdings acquired Sotetsu Clean Energy, then known as TB Energy, from Trust Bank in 2024. The company was formed through the spin off of the seller’s GX (Green Transformation) unit prior to the transaction.
The group is among a growing list of corporate and industrial power consumers operating renewables-focused subsidiaries to support their decarbonization objectives, such as Ryohin Keikaku and Yamato Transport.
