Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions signed an agreement to fully acquire IDEC Systems & Controls, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDEC focused on solar power plant-related services, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas announced on November 1, 2024. The transaction is expected to be completed on March 31, 2025.

“IDEC S&C provides one-stop service from design and construction to maintenance of solar power generation facilities based on its reliable technical capabilities, and has a track record of construction of over 100,000 kW nationwide,” said the statement. “By making IDEC S&C a subsidiary, TGES aims to further strengthen its solar power generation facility design and construction capabilities and expand its SolarAdvance business,” it continued.

SolarAdvance is Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions’ on-site PPA product as part of which it installs solar power plants at commercial and industrial facilities. The Japan Energy Hub PPA database shows that, among others, the company signed a 7MW on-site PPA with Honda Motor Company.

Acquiring IDEC Systems & Controls, which had 24 employees as of April 1, 2024, is expected to help Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions grow its on-site PPA business amid limited availability of skilled employees.
