Topy Industries, a company affiliated with Nippon Steel primarily involved in manufacturing steel components for the automotive industry, signed an on-site PPA with Nishitetsu Shizen Energy, which will develop and operate a solar power plant at Topy’s Toyohashi Plant in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.

The power plant to be developed by the joint venture between Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) and renewable developer Shizen Energy will generate approximately 1.7GWh of power and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 770 tons each year. The project is expected to be commissioned in May 2025.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Panasonic Finance will provide lease financing for the power generation equipment according to Topy’s statement.

This PPA, which has now been added to the Japan Energy Hub CPPA database, is Topy Industries’ first disclosed PPA. The database also shows that Nishitetsu Shizen Energy has signed on-site PPAs with at least two other companies.
