Mori Building commissioned its first grid-scale battery storage project, the 2MW/8MWh Mori Building Fukaya City Nagata Power Storage Station, on September 28, 2026, the company announced on the same day.

According to the statement, the facility was built on an approximately 600m² site in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture. An image released by the company suggests the asset uses Huawei battery systems. Bison Energy disclosed separately that it handled development of the project.

The real estate company said it aims to structure a virtual power plant linking its renewable power plants and battery storage assets with its buildings in central Tokyo in the future. Bison Energy indicated that it will cooperate on the initiative.

Prior to entering grid-scale storage, Mori Building had invested in solar power plants, including three co-located with batteries and used for an intra-group offsite PPA sleeved by TEPCO Energy Partner. The company is also developing the up to 42MW Shimokita-Seibu onshore wind farm in Aomori Prefecture jointly with Ken Corporation.

Other real estate companies, such as A.D.Works, Wada Kohsan, and Anabuki Kosan, have also entered grid-scale battery storage.
