GPSS Project Development submitted the environmental impact assessment methodology for its up to 54MW Suzu Otani-Toge onshore wind project in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, to METI and other stakeholders on October 7, 2026.
According to the document, the company plans to install 12 to 14 turbines, 3MW to 4.5MW each, across an approximately 517.8ha site. Their combined output will be capped at 49.99MW due to grid connection size. Construction is planned to begin in June 2031, with commercial operation targeted for January 2035.
The project’s assessment process was launched on August 25, 2021, when Japan Wind-Power Service submitted the primary consideration for a smaller, up to 36MW wind farm. GPSS Project Development took over the project on August 1, 2026, as part of the group’s consolidation into fewer units.
Operational assets in the vicinity include Suzu Wind Development’s three 15MW wind farms that were commissioned between 2007 and 2008. The Japan Wind Development unit’s planned up to 42MW Mase-Otani project, which is currently in the methodology stage, overlaps Suzu Otani-Toge’s site.
Other projects in GPSS Project Development’s pipeline include an up to 49.5MW onshore wind project in Ichinohe Town, Iwate Prefecture, and an up to 240MW one in Hokkaido, which began the environmental impact assessment in July 2026 and December 2024, respectively. The group also signed a PPA for a 7.5MW wind power plant it is developing jointly with wpd in Shizuoka Prefecture.
