Taka Create submitted the draft environmental impact assessment for its up to 46.86MW Morioka Yanagawa onshore wind project in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, to METI and other stakeholders on October 15, 2026.
According to the document, the company plans to install 11 turbines, 4.26MW each, across an approximately 540ha site. Construction is expected to begin in 2028, with commercial operation following in April 2031.
As a Class 2 onshore wind power plant with a capacity between 37.5MW and 50MW, Morioka Yanagawa was exempt from the primary consideration stage that marks the beginning of the process for larger projects. Taka Create filed the methodology in September 2023. In the draft assessment, the company increased the planned asset’s capacity by 660kW from 46.2MW and reduced its footprint from about 627ha.
The project’s proposed location is in the vicinity of Cosmo Eco Power’s 18MW Himekami Wind Park commissioned in 2019. Green Power Investment is undergoing the assessment process with its up to 140MW Yabukawa Chiku and up to 199.5MW Miyako Iwaizumi onshore wind projects, which are at the methodology and draft assessment stages, respectively, nearby.
In addition to Morioka Yanagawa, Taka Create is developing the up to 46.2MW Iwate Kunohe onshore wind project for which it filed the methodology in 2023.
